Orcastra (AGBIC 2021)

STORY

Get ready to play some sweet ocean music!  In Orcastra you play as Ornicus IV, the fiesty son of famed ocean conductor Ornicus III.  You have some big shoes to fill as your pops takes you swimming though 4 challenging musical islands; testing your musical and timing abilities before the final exam hopefuly proving you are a worthy successor to the family name!

CONTROLS

Control Ornicus IV with the up and down arrows (or control pad), with  B (X on keyboard) to shoot and A  (Z on keyboard) to dash (holding dash will speed up your up and down movements). 

Try to hit each note in the green sweet spot, combinations of green hits will give you a bigger score.  If you miss too many you'll send pops sinking to the bottom of the ocean and its game over!

BACKGROUND

Originally created for the Famicase 2020 game jam I screwed up and totally missed the deadline extension by a few days and kind of parked the project.  Fastforward to the 2021 Famicase jam and I was determined to finish Orcastra as well as roll out an additional title.  Unfortunately disaster struck again as I got a bit too trigger happy and got part way though another submission to which once I asked for permission the original artist declined...doh!

Thankfully it wasn't all in vain as I was advised in the AGBIC discord I could finish up my last years entry and submit that for this year!  

Appreciate any comments and suggestions, it was a bit of a pain dusting off old code and trying to figure out what sloppyness I was on a year ago with my approach :D;  was definately wasteful here and there with my tokens and pretty much used the whole 8192 in the end so no fancy ending sorry!
